Here is a map showing the location of Villa Olmo just on the outskirts of the city of Como, going north along the western shore of the lake. Below are instructions for travelling to Como, which may be easily reached by road, rail and air:
Road:
Como is situated at the Italian–Swiss border on the A9/E35 motorway (A2/E35 in Switzerland) — the Autostrada dei Laghi — running from Milano to the St. Gotthard Pass. The most convenient exit for Villa Olmo is marked Como Monte Olimpino (between the Como Sud and Chiasso exits). Villa Olmo itself is signposted rather well on entering Como from the motorway exit. Here are instructions and maps for arriving from Milano (53 km), Lugano (30 km) and Malpensa Airport (62 km).
Rail:
Como is conveniently located on the main line running between Milano and Chiasso (Switzerland). The journey from Milano takes between 30 and 40 minutes by the fast InterCity or Cisalpino trains — Villa Olmo is about one kilometre from the main Como S. Giovanni station. There is also a private railway network (le Ferrovie Nord) connecting Milano and Como, via Saronno — Villa Olmo is about two kilometres from the terminal Como Lago station.
Air:
The nearest Italian airport is Milano–Malpensa, which is connected to Como by a regular bus service (62 km). Alternatively, one may take a train of the Ferrovia Nord to Saronno (Milano direction) and change there for Como. The nearby Lugano airport also has a limited number of international flights as do Milano's other airport Linate (70 km, choose the Linate link on the opening page) and the Orio al Serio airport near Bergamo (93 km). All three airports are connected to Como via motorway.
