Dear Colleague, transversity and transverse spin are of growing theoretical and experimental interest. Indeed, a two-year Ministry-funded inter-university Research Project of National Interest (PRIN) in Italy aimed specifically at the study of this aspect of hadronic physics is now in its second year. As part of the project, the members have planned the present workshop to gather together experimentalists and theorists engaged in investigating the nature of transverse spin in hadronic physics, with the aim of exchanging up-to-date theoretical and experimental ideas and news on the subject. The Workshop will be held in Como from 7th. to 10th. September 2005 with the title: International Workshop on Transverse Polarisation Phenomena in Hard Processes (Transversity 2005) and under the auspices of the International Committee for Spin Physics Symposia. The workshop web pages may be found at http://scienze-como.uninsubria.it/phil/WS2005/ The precise site of the conference will be Villa Olmo on the the shores of Lake Como in the North of Italy. Villa Olmo is well equipped as a conference centre with a permanent experienced technical and secretarial staff. The registration fee, covering coffee breaks, lunches, conference dinner (including an excursion on lake Como) and a copy of the proceedings, will be 250 Euros. On the basis of interest already expressed, we are expecting a total of 70-80 participants and plan on a number of theoretical and experimental presentations with approximately 40 speakers (by invitation only) and one or two round-table discussions. A preliminary list of speakers together with the committee lists may be found at the foot of this message. Further information may be obtained from . Finally, apologies for any duplicate mailings and please pass this message on to anyone you feel may be interested.
